This reserve is a true jewel among the world’s top wildlife havens. It serves as a critical sanctuary, safeguarding endangered treasures such as lions, rhinos, elephants, and numerous other remarkable species. Diverse ecosystems within the reserve provide a nurturing home to an astonishing array of avian life, plant species, and captivating creatures. You will have one full-day safari in the park, a boat safari at the mighty, great Rufiji River, and a tour of Mloka Village.
Our professional driver will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and transfer you to Zanzibar Airport. You begin your safari in Zanzibar and take a short flight to the impressive Nyerere National Park, previously known as Selous Game Reserve. Our driver guide will welcome you to Mtemere Airstrip and provide a tour plan.
This vast wilderness boasts diverse African treasures, including wildlife, birds, rivers, lakes, and more. Keep an eye out for elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and a myriad of other captivating creatures.
You will enjoy a hearty packed lunch and well-deserved relaxation as the day unfolds. The adventure continues with more game drives, taking you into the enchanting African wilderness until the sun sets. Finally, we will escort you to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for a delightful dinner and a peaceful sleep.
On this day, you will wake up early for coffee or tea and start your morning boat safari. The cruise usually lasts two hours. Incredible views of growling hippos and crocodiles basking on the river banks, as well as the abundant birdlife, will spice up a spectacular sunrise. You will return to the lodge for a full breakfast.
Later, you will leave for an eye-opening village tour where our guide will show you various cultural aspects of the people living in the village. You will also visit primary schools and spend time with students before returning to the lodge for lunch.
You will leave the lodge for your flight back to Zanzibar at 4:00 pm. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, our driver will wait for you and transfer you to any hotel in Zanzibar.
